About the Journal

Riau Journal of Empowerment is a peer‑reviewed journal that advances knowledge, practice, and innovation in community empowerment. The first issue of this journal was published in 2018. This periodical publication receives articles in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Riau Journal of Empowerment provides a forum for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders committed to advancing sustainable empowerment practices.

 

 

Focus and Scope

Riau Journal of Empowerment is a peer‑reviewed journal that advances knowledge, practice, and innovation in community empowerment. The journal publishes high‑quality manuscripts on community service activities and empirical research that deepen theoretical, methodological, and practical understanding of empowerment processes across diverse societal contexts.

To support a more comprehensive knowledge base, the journal invites community service activities and empirical studies, including, but not limited to:

  • Knowledge transfer, applied science, and technology adoption in communities.
  • Evaluations of empowerment programs, models, and interventions.
  • Analyses of policy, governance, and institutional arrangements that shape empowerment outcomes.
  • Empowerment of entrepreneurial ecosystems and their role in emerging and evolving communities' business resilience.
  • Rural entrepreneurship as a pathway to empowerment, poverty reduction, and inclusive growth in rural areas.
  • Community‑based enterprises: small and medium enterprises, cooperatives, and grassroots innovation‑based enterprises.

By integrating community service and empirical research through an empowerment lens, Riau Journal of Empowerment positions itself as a leading platform for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders committed to advancing sustainable empowerment practices and evidence‑based development.

 

 

Publication Frequency

The first two volumes (2018-2019) of this journal were published twice a year.

Starting in 2020, Riau Journal of Empowerment publishes issues three times a year: January-April, May-August, and September-December.

Riau Journal of Empowerment is published and funded by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Universitas Riau.

Peer-review Process

Riau Journal of Empowerment received the manuscript in English or Bahasa Indonesia. All submitted manuscripts are read by the editorial secretary. Those manuscripts evaluated by editors to be inappropriate to journal criteria are rejected promptly without external review. Manuscripts evaluated to be of potential interest to our readership are sent to peer-reviewers for the double-blind review process. The editors then make a decision based on the reviewer’s recommendation from among several possibilities: rejected, need major or minor revision, or accepted. The Editor-in-Chief of Riau Journal of Empowerment has the right to decide which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published.

Review Process: (1) Corresponding author submits the manuscript, (2) Editor Evaluation (pre-review), (3) The double-blind peer review process, (4) Editor Decision, (5) Confirmation to the corresponding author.

 

 

Publication Ethics

For the excellent quality of the manuscript, and to avoid the fault of the publication process and plagiarism in the accepted procedure, the editorial board approved the ethics of scientific publications. The ethical rules of this publication apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and journal managers. The ethics of the publication is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Screening for Plagiarism

The submitted manuscript would be checked for plagiarism twice using Turnitin (similarity check program) before sending it to the peer-review process and before the production process to prevent any publication fraud. We do not process and publish any plagiarised contents.

 

 

Open Access Policy

Riau Journal of Empowerment provides fully open access to each published text. Which means that all articles are available on the internet to all readers immediately upon publication. Distribution in any medium is permitted, provided the author and the journal are properly credited. This policy is based on the principle that the results of work are freely available to the public and editors support the dissemination and exchange of global knowledge.

 

 

Digital Archiving

This journal utilizes the GARUDA by Kementerian Riset Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi Republik Indonesia to create a distributed archiving system and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

 

 

Author Self-Archiving Policy

This journal permits and encourages authors to post items submitted to the journal on personal websites or institutional repositories after publication while providing bibliographic details that credit its publication in this journal.

Riau Journal of Empowerment is in the process of Sherpa/Romeo Directory registration.
